To you...

This blog is for all the full time lovers of mas, kaiso, pan and soca. Its for all of you who hear soca in your dreams, who get excited at the first snip of braid and sequins, who get serious Carnival tabanca at the first beat of a soca, and who understand the meaning of "fete to fete" and "all night till morning!, who could pick up a bottle and some spoons and make sweet music in a riddim section, who could laugh at the satire of beautiful kaiso music and bawl out- oh lash, lyrics fuh so, who appreciate a corn soup and polouri an some bake an shark after a boss fete...is for all of we... all of us!

Notting Hill Carnival Griot

I ent lying to say this page was born of envy. After reading and subscribing to Saucy's Trinidad Carnival Diary for a few years, I realised that we did not have news and information feeding through for what is the BIGGEST street party in Europe- the Notting Hill Carnival. We have to rely on scraps of information (like carnival pothounds) to decipher which band to play in (as if is some sudoku), band launches are held in some very hard to reach locations making it difficult to compare and contrast and band leaders are certainly behind times in terms of harnessing technology. So I thought why not build up a space in cyberland where we could discuss, compare, review and keep in the loop on all things NHC! The melee, the confusion, de kaiso, de mas, de costumes, de fetes, de everything. Its the Greatest Show dis side of the hemisphere at least!
